Stadsakkers Eindhoven

As a resident of Eikenburg Estate, I volunteer with pleasure at the special foundation Stadsakkers Eindhoven. It seemed wonderful to me to learn more about the process of growing vegetables. What makes it extra special for me is that we grow vegetables for people who really need it. This photo series started spontaneously on days when I had my camera with me, and in the meantime I’ve been documenting the fields and volunteers for almost a year now.

Moerbeek has traditionally been the vegetable garden of the monastery on Eikenburg Estate. Growing one's own food has always been a characteristic of monastery communities. Nowadays, Stadsakkers Eindhoven grows vegetables here in an organic way for the Food Bank Eindhoven. Stadsakker Eikenburg is one of the two city fields and covers approximately 0.6 hectares of land and a greenhouse. Stadsakkers Eindhoven is a non-profit volunteer organization, sponsored by various local parties and businesses. Trudo facilitates the project by providing the land.

Volunteering at Stadsakkers Eindhoven brings people with different backgrounds together, creates new friendships, and strengthens the bond with nature. By helping out in the fields, you directly contribute to local food provision and support the Food Bank, Salvation Army, and Experience that Matters in Eindhoven. Small efforts make a big difference.
